Kathaleen “Sis” Essex was born November 4, 1940, in Vigo County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Ova and Isabelle (Archer) Wood. 

A longtime resident of Boone County, Kathaleen graduated from Whitestown High School in 1959.  

On December 3, 1960, she was married to Leo Edward Essex in Whitestown, Indiana.  Mr. Essex survives. 

Kathaleen was a devoted homemaker.  For eleven years, she had worked at the Granville Wells School as a custodian and for a period of time, she worked at Lynn Wrights Restaurant on Highway 421.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; Kathaleen enjoyed her kids and grandkids.  Her hobbies centered around her family, fishing and camping.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, with Pastor Kyle Drown and Dan Hayden, officiating.

Visitation is planned for Friday, April 19, 2013, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home, in Lebanon.

Interment will follow at Union Lutheran Cemetery in Boone County, Indiana.

                   Jeff Essex and wife, Doris – Creve Coeur, Illinois

               Darrin Essex and wife, Misty – Advance, Indiana

Three Brothers:  Dallas Wood and wife, Peggy – Lebanon, Indiana

                           Tom Wood and wife, Pat – Kentucky

                          Wayne Wood – Lebanon, Indiana

Sixteen Grandchildren

Seventeen Great Grandchildren

Deceased:  In addition to her parents, Kathaleen was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Hunt, and a grandson, Jordan Essex.
